Due to the effects of climate change, heavy rains and landslide disasters are becoming more severe, more frequent, and more widespread. As a result, there is a need for a multi-point disaster prevention sensor system that monitors the national land of Japan in a planar and real-time manner.
On the other hand, conventional disaster prevention sensors are expensive and require a high level of specialized knowledge, such as geology, to select installation locations. Securing sufficient financial and human resources has become a bottleneck, and society needs to catch up with the impending crises.
In order to respond to this situation, OYO Corporation is utilizing our highly-specialized geological survey knowledge and sensor development capabilities, and fully incorporating the latest digital technology to cover a wide area in a planar and real-time manner. The result is a new disaster prevention and mitigation solution known as "hazard mapping sensor solutions".

Features

Our hazard mapping sensor solutions are composed of functions for extracting information from sensor installation locations by using edge computing, LPWA, multi-point installation type sensors using IoT / cloud, and AI (artificial intelligence) that incorporates the knowledge of OYO Corporation's many years of geological surveys, and our natural disaster prevention and mitigation business. These completely new disaster prevention and mitigation solutions feature multi-point, planar, wide-area, and real-time monitoring which makes it possible to reduce operating costs and human burden.

All-in-one service including sensor installation, risk assessment, and alert transmission

It is an all-in-one service that includes sensor installation and maintenance, data aggregation, risk assessment, alert transmission, and information visualization. The sensors consist of tilt sensors that monitor slope failures and flood sensors that monitor river flooding. If the sensors detect an abnormality that exceeds a preset threshold, the sensors will automatically notify users by email.

Disaster prevention IoT sensor

(1) Clino-Pole (surface inclinometer)

Detects changes in ground tilt with a resolution of 0.001°. Locating the sensor part underground limits the effect of temperature as much as possible and enables high-precision measurement.

(2) KAN SWITCH (flood sensor)

KAN SWITCH is installed in locations such as river revetment and uses sensors installed in multiple stages to monitor the rise of rivers. Sensors can be installed at a maximum of three different depths. If the water level rises and sensors at each depth detect flooding, KAN SWITCH notifies the river administrator of danger.

Use of AI to extract potential landslide disaster hazard areas

Inclinometers must be installed on slopes that are at risk of collapse. There are countless potential landslide hazard slopes (zero-order basins) throughout Japan. Extraction of these locations has required long hours of work, such as topographical interpretation by experienced geotechnical engineers.
The hazard mapping sensor solutions use AI developed based on the knowledge and work processes of geotechnical engineers as training data. The solutions automatically extract dangerous zero-order basins from a wide municipality area in a short time, and greatly reduce the human burden required for sensor installation.
