Overview

A flood sensor bollard is a new type of disaster prevention IoT sensor that incorporates flood sensors into bollards, which are a familiar road infrastructure in the city.
Damage caused by floods and inland flooding is increasing in various regions of Japan due to the effects of global warming, etc. In response, OYO Corporation cooperated with SUNPOLE Co., Ltd. and YUASA TRADING Co., Ltd. to develop flood sensor bollards which use familiar road infrastructure to quickly detect flood conditions on roads, etc., and support risk avoidance behavior and initial disaster prevention measures by local governments.
By adding a flood detection function to the numerous bollards installed throughout the city, it is possible to quickly construct a wide-area and precise flood monitoring network at low cost.

When the preset water level (can be arbitrarily set from 30 to 300 mm) is reached, flooding is detected and an alert is issued to the road administrator.

Features

The flood sensor bollard has a built-in sensor and communication device to detect flooding.

Detects flooding and automatically issues alerts to administrators

When the preset water level (can be arbitrarily set from 30 to 300 mm) is reached, flooding is detected and an alert is issued to the road administrator.

Flashes emergency lights (LEDs) to warn of danger

When the sensors detect flooding, in addition to issuing alerts to road administrators, they also flash the emergency lights (LED lights) on bollard heads to notify pedestrians and vehicles in the vicinity of the danger of flooding.

Supporting initial disaster response

The ability to ascertain flooding conditions at an early stage enables road administrators to secure lead time for initial response and quickly take measures such as flood control, evacuation instructions, and road traffic restrictions.

Utilizing the many bollards installed throughout the city

By using bollards, which are a type of well-established social infrastructure, it is possible to quickly construct a wide-area and precise flood monitoring network.
