Soil Strength Probe

The Soil Strength Probe is a simple and easy tool used mainly for the purposes of (1) Layer thickness measurement, (2) Penetration test and (3) Shear test.

1. Layer thickness measurement Layer thickness can be roughly measured by pushing a rod (φ10mm) with a penetration cone statically into the ground

2. Penetration test Soil type, layer strength and layer thickness can be roughly measured by pushing a rod (φ10mm) with a penetration cone statically into the ground using a spring-type load meter.

3. Shear test Internal friction and cohesion at a site are measured by pushing a penetration cone with a wing (vane cone) into a target depth and, then, by checking press force and rotation torque.
